Our impact on the UN Sustainable development goals

Over the past 12 months, our technology has achieved:

  • Collected paint microplastics: 3,380 kg
  • Reduced CO₂ emissions compared to ppen grit blasting: 62%
  • Reduced grit and waste to landfill: 291 tonnes

Research on ocean paint microplastics

A global study published in February 2022 revealed that approximately two million tonnes of paint microplastics enter the oceans annually, surpassing contributions from textiles, tyres, or pellets. The “Plastic Paints the Environment” report, initiated by Pinovo and conducted by EA – Environmental Action, highlights that paint is a major source of microplastic pollution, contributing 1.9 million tonnes, or 58%, of microplastics in the ocean each year. This is significantly higher than previous estimates, which ranged between 9% and 21%.
